Dance World Cup 2009
2009-08-03The the 7th Dance World Cup, the celebration that establishes Buenos Aires as a mecca for tango dancers from all over the world. This event will select the best dancers in the categories “Salon Tango”, which stresses the social aspect of the tango dance as a typical porteño practice, and “Stage Tango”, which aims to enrich the dance from a choreographic point of view related to the performance as a show.
THE ASIAN WINNERS
2009-07-11Last weekend took place the sixth Asian edition of the Dance World Championship. The qualifying rounds were on Saturday 4 and the semi-finals and finals, on Sunday 5 at the Otakumin Hall Aprico in Tokyo. The total number of participating couples was 63 in the category “Salon Tango” and 21 in “Stage Tango.” The winners of the Salon Tango category were Cristian & Nao (1st place), Szu-Chi & Tzu-Han (2nd place) and Natsu & Hiromi (3rd place). As for Stage Tango, the first place went to Mikage & Arisa, the second place to Genta Nakazawa & Maky and the third to Ou Kubota & Yoshiko Mamada. All of them thus qualified for the respective semi-finals of the World Cup to be held in Buenos Aires next month.
Qualifying Round in Australia
2009-07-10The Australian regional competition to qualify for the semi-finals of the upcoming Tango Dance World Cup will be held tomorrow, Saturday 11 July, at the Sir John Clancy auditorium in the East suburban area of Sidney. The dancing couples will be contesting in the categories Stage Open and Salon Open, as well as in four new local categories: Salon Dancing with a Stranger Open, Salon Beginners, Milonga Amateur and Vals Amateur.
REGISTRATION FOR THE 7TH DANCE WORLD CUP IS EXTENDED
2009-05-20Up to 27 July 2009, registration for the 7th Dance World Cup is still open.
Entry is free of charge, via the Internet on this same site or in person at our offices located in Av. Roque Saénz Peña 832, 6th floor, Monday through Friday from 2pm to 5pm.
Couples may be of any nationality and both members must be at least 18 years old by 23 August 2009, the starting date of the 7th Dance World Cup.
Contestants may enter only once in each category, but they may enter both categories, with or without the same partner. Each couple will be representing a city. If both members are from different cities, they should choose the city of birth or residence of one of them.
