Biography
Rodolfo Mederos Trío's biography
Rodolfo Mederos is a bandoneonist, composer and arranger. A quintessential figure of current tango, he majored in biology in the city of Córdoba, later to devote himself entirely to music following the advice of Astor Piazzolla. He came back to Buenos Aires in 1966 and became one of the big names of the avant-garde tango. Between 1967 and 1968, he had enriching experiences in Paris, and from 1969 to 1974, back in Argentina, he took part in Osvaldo Pugliese’s orchestra as arranger and bandoneonist. An amateur filmmaker, in 1970 his short film Ritmo won a contest of amateur cinema. During the seventies, he merged tango with other music concepts related to jazz-rock; later on, in the nineties, he delved deeper into the traditional tango, always leading his own formations. From 1966 up to the present day, he has released 17 albums. He was invited to play the bandoneón by Luis Alberto Spinetta, Mercedes Sosa, Daniel Barenboim and Joan Manuel Serrat, among other artists of international renown. His new trio invites to enjoy those songs with which we started out in our backyards. The members of the trio are Rodolfo Mederos (bandoneón and arrangements), Armando De la Vega (guitar) and Sergio Rivas (double bass).
