Biography
Miguel Ángel Zotto - Sexteto Mayor's biography
Founded in 1973 by bandoneonists José Libertella and Luis Stazo, due to its high musical level and historical significance the Sexteto Mayor measures up to the great instrumental ensembles of the genre, on equal footing as the legendary orchestras of the 1910s and the 1940s. With a well-deserved prestige in Argentina, in 1983 they took part in “Tango Argentino,” the show that helped increase worldwide awareness of our music and set a milestone in the history of tango by firing up a global passion. The members of the sextet are violinists Mario Abramovich and Eduardo Walczak, who have been part of it since its beginnings, pianist Fulvio Giraudo, double bassist Enrique Guerra and bandoneonists Lautaro Greco and Horacio Romo, the latter also in charge of the musical direction.
The Festival provides the framework for a memorable gathering between the Sexteto Mayor and Miguel Ángel Zotto. The dancer and choreographer who once shone in Tango Argentino and was later renowned worldwide for his exquisite style and his career as the front man of the company Tangox2, is one of the greatest stars of the current scene.
