Biography
Abel Rogantini & Cuerdas Pop-temporáneas's biography
The candombe is an essential member of the music family of the River Plate, and its development in Buenos Aires, adjacent to tango, was thanks to the pioneer work of pianist Sebastián Piana. It was also due to the contributions of musicians like Lucio Demare, Héctor Stamponi, Pintín Castellanos and Enrique Maciel, and poets such as Homero Manzi, Homero Expósito and Héctor Pedro Blomberg, who gave birth to the “milonga candombe.” Far from fading away, this genre will gain ground with the programme of milongas and candombes for the piano, percussion and string quartet by pianist and composer Abel Rogantini. A musician of a wide-ranging training, Rogantini plays jazz, tango, folklore and candombe: his works alongside Lito Epumer, Gustavo Bergalli, Daniel Maza and Walter Ríos attest to his versatility. He will be accompanied by percussionist Facundo Guevara and by Cuerdas Pop-temporáneas, a quartet made up of Damián Bolotin (violin and direction), Sebastián Prusak (violin), Eduardo Félix Peroni (viola) and Nicolás Rossi (cello).
