Orquesta Provincial de Música Ciudadana (Cordoba)'s biography
Created by a provincial decree in 1984, the orchestra made its debut on 9 May 1992, under the direction of bandoneonist Carlos Nieto. In 2003, bandoneonist and composer Osvaldo Piro took on the artistic direction. One of their first appearances was entitled Tangos de Ayer y de Hoy, featuring poet Horacio Ferrer and the Ballet Oficial de la Provincia. They have performed in Brazil, Chile, Ukraine and Russia. Many big names of the present-day tango scene have joined them onstage as guest directors or soloists, including Rubén Juárez, Atilio Stampone, Eladia Blázquez, Susana Rinaldi, Raúl Lavié, Guillermo Fernández, María Graña and Hugo Marcel. In 2007, they released their first album, Eclipse, under the direction of Osvaldo Piro. On this occasion they will be directed by pianist, arranger, composer and Conductor Nicolás Ledesma, and joined by singer Gustavo Visentín.
