Biography
Guillermo Fernández y su Orquesta Típica's biography
Last year, singer Guillermo Fernández was invited by the organisers of the Festival to lend his voice to the recovery of the first recordings by Aníbal Troilo’s orchestra, playing the historic role of Francisco Fiorentino. He got so enthusiastic about the project that he decided to take a second step: setting up a typical orchestra to revive and disseminate the spirit of those ensembles of the forties, but from a fresh perspective. So it was that he set about developing his project. As well as the vocals, Fernández was in charge of the arrangements and the direction alongside pianist Cristian Zárate. He gathered an orchestra of eleven musicians, and now the time has come to debut live. The line-up consists of Horacio Cabarcos (double bass), Lautaro Greco and Horacio Romo (bandoneons) and Pablo Agri, Miguel Ángel Bertero and Raúl Di Renzo (violins), among others, as well as Zárate himself on the piano. This is not the only surprise: the first album recorded by Guillermo Fernández’s typical orchestra will be launched during the Festival.
