Tango Jazz Club: Franzetti - Marconi - Bergalli - Aslán

In a co-production between the Tango Festival and the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, Argentine musicians Carlos Franzetti, Néstor Marconi, Gustavo Bergalli and Pablo Aslán were commissioned to compose or arrange three works each, to be presented in a quartet. The concert will present a preview of the exclusive material and during the Jazz Festival, in December, the cycle will be completed with the recording of the pieces, to be later launched in an album. Settled in the United States, Franzetti and Aslán are coming over to Buenos Aires specially for the occasion. A pianist and composer, Franzetti boasts a fruitful career in tango, jazz, chamber works and music for film; to cite just an example, he was the artistic producer of Roberto Goyeneche’s 1985 album El Polaco por Dentro. A doube bass player, Aslán ventured into both tango and jazz and left his musical imprint through the band Avantango. In turn, the magnificence of trumpeter Gustavo Bergalli is reflected on his work with Gato Barbieri’s bands and Michel Legrand’s orchestra, as well as in his founding of the Cuarteto de Jazz de Buenos Aires and Quinteplus. Bandoneonist Néstor Marconi is one of the most prominent figures of the so-called “Generation of the seventies” of tango.
