IN SEARCH FOR LOST TANGO
“Notas de tango” (Rafael Filipelli, 2000), is the film to be projected this Sunday at 1 pm at Harrods’ micro cinema within the Tango World Championship and Festival’s movies segment. The story goes from documentary to fiction, with the special characteristics of a cinema director trying to shoot a tango movie while looking for an actor to star his movie, working on the preliminary production and doing some research.
Rafael Filippelli was born in Buenos Aires in 1938. He has performed in several movies by Leopoldo Torre Nilsson- as well as advertising. His first short “Porque hoy es sábado,” 1961, and “Opinaron,” 1970, were the first films he has made before exiling between 1976 and 1982 to Mexico, and then, the United States. Among others, he has shot “El ausente” (1987), “Imágenes más sonidos” (1990), “Buenos Aires I” (1991), “Buenos Aires II,” “Una actriz” (1997), and “Esas cuatro notas” (2004).
