VIVALDI AND PIAZZOLA BY THE SAN MARTIN BALLET

VIVALDI Y PIAZZOLLA, POR EL BALLET DEL SAN MARTIN

This Friday at 1 pm at Teatro San Martín (Corrientes 1530), the Contemporary Ballet of the San Martín Theatre will be performing a play by choreographer Mauricio Wainrot, based on “The Eight Seasons” by Antonio Vivaldi (“The Four Seasons”) and Astor Piazzolla (“Verano-otoño-primavera-invierno porteño,” with compositions by violinist and director Gidon Kremer.

Wainrot's play had its premiere in Anvers (Belgium) with the Flanders' Royal Ballet and, a year later, with the Contemporary Ballet of the San Martín Theatre, which is directed by Wainrot (second season as director of this company) since 1999. Custom design has been undertaken by Carlos Gallardo and lighting by Eli Sirlin. As stated by the choreographer himself, this play is “a cyclic trip split into sixteen movements and, the same as with the score, phases vary with experiences and abstractions. It is not about stories but atmospheres.”
